The Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase 2012
is proud to present “The Evolution of the Acoustic Guitar”
featuring C. F. Martin & Co.'s Museum Director, Archivist,
and long-time Artist Relations/Designer Dick Boak.

The presentation will showcase examples of rare and priceless instruments from the Martin Museum collection, with period musical vignettes performed upon them by several "significant guest artists" in attendance for the event.

The presentation will be given by Dick Boak (a 37-year employee of the company), who will offer a historical overview of Martin Guitars and the development of the acoustic guitar in America.

The accompanying visual slideshow will focus on Martin’s colorful history, the evolution of the modern acoustic guitar, Martin's historical contributions to the definitive acoustic guitar design, artist signature model collaborations, and on the specific guitar shapes, sizes and tonewoods that lend themselves to particular musical genres.

“The Evolution of the Acoustic Guitar” will be open to the general public with free admission once each day, Saturday and Sunday in the
C.F. Martin Presentation Tent next to the Bearsville Theater.
